Supporting our local community and charities.

By way of formalising our annual charitable donations, we have set up the “Broughton Electrical Contractors Corporate & social responsibility fund” the sum of £5.00 per plot for each new build house we complete, £10.00 per plot for each PV solar installation we complete and £0.25p from each lamppost we install will be set aside to build up a yearly fund. This will then be made available in the form of grants and donations to local charities and community groups we support.

As corporate supporters of the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, we are already helping to fund their schools education programme.

Continual investment in local apprentices.

With the advent of the new government part funded “Trailblazer” scheme for apprentices, we have increased our long-established contact with JTL (Joint Training Ltd), to support their new training facility at Aldercar College, which is only a mile from our main office. The company recently attended the official re-opening of the centre and now have five apprentices based at the site. We will continue to support this impressive facility by providing employment for local school leavers and endeavour to help make the centre a success, as apprentice training is vital to our business development.

Training & Development – Investment in our training facilities refurbishment.

We have now completed a reorganisation and refurbishment of our training facility to provide a 20-seat lecture area, a smaller meeting room and an apprentice study and workshop room where installation equipment training can take place. These are key to providing an improved training experience for our employees and other training providers.

The facility has recently been used by the Electrical Contractors Association (ECA), for a health and safety SSSTS course. This improved facility will enable us to carry on working with the ECA and other health and safety advisors to provide SSSTS, SSIP & SMSTS training and certification for both our staff and other East Midlands based ECA members.

Supporting Redrow Homes trainees.

We have agreed to support and assist Redrow Homes with their training needs for future electricians. We will provide both on site and office based training to help them gain greater experience of the electrical contracting industry. This is a new approach to help close the gap on the skills shortage within the construction industry.

Jordan takes his next career step

Congratulations to Jordan Harrison on completing his apprenticeship with the company, Jordan is now a fully qualified electrician. We wish him every success and will continue to support him throughout his career with the company.

Staff Milestone

Clint appointed as Company Director

Clint Cottee has been appointed as Contracts Director and shareholder within the business. Clint has over 20 years’ experience within the electrical contracting industry, 12 of which have been with the company. Since starting in 2004, Clint has progressed into his current position from early beginnings as an electrician, moving onto manage our Site Services Division, becoming a Qualifying Manager representing the company with the NIC EIC to completing his HNC. We wish Clint every success in his new position.
